At its meeting on Tuesday night, the Liberal City Commission decided to award French Construction the $1,439,755.00 Doll Addition RHID bid.
For almost a year, the City of Liberal and the Air Products Helium Team have been negotiating the purchase of land north of the Air Museum. The appraisal and survey are finished. The Air Products Helium Team’s Letter of Intent to buy 2.94 acres was put on hold until the following meeting by the commissioners.
To cover Country Club Park, South Blue Bonnet Park, and Mahuron Park, the Commission approved the purchase of Path Lighting from First Light Technologies for a maximum of $348,000.00, which will be paid for with the Streets, Drainage, and Capital Improvement component of the One Cent Sales Tax. The McCray Park lighting project, which will be financed by the Crime Prevention section of the One Cent Sales Tax and cost no more than $52,000.00, was also authorized.
The addition of a parallel taxiway to the crosswind runway at Liberal Airport was approved by commissioners. The estimated total cost of the project is $6,353,000. The City will provide 5% and the FAA will contribute 95%, totaling $317,650. If the City gets an additional Build Kansas Fund grant, this will be less.
A $48,948.00 set of Genesis rescue equipment and chargers was purchased for the Fire Department from Emergency Fire Equipment. The Commission accepted INA Alert’s offer for installing door access control systems and signed a contract with them for the project, which has a maximum budget of $170,000.00.
The Stepping Stone Shelter Utility Billing Waivers totaling $6,779.75 were accepted by the Commissioners, with the knowledge that the City may need to get an additional $1,500 in final approvals prior to the arrival of operational cash in September.
