At at 4:38 p.m. on Thursday, a three-vehicle collision happened one mile south of the intersection of US Highways 83 and 56.
On U.S. Highway 83, three vehicles were traveling south: a 2018 Ford F150 driven by Brayden Yarnell, 21, of Erie, Kansas; a 2014 Kenworth semi driven by Saul Rodriguez, 52, of Liberal; and a 2005 Peterbilt semi driven by Mickey Cobb, 67, of Elkhart. Yarnell made a sudden, unlawful U-turn on the road. Cobb used his brakes forcefully, causing the Kenworth to collide with Cobb’s Peterbilt’s rear trailer.
Cobb, who appeared to have minor injuries, was brought to Southwest Medical Center. Rodriguez and Yarnell were unharmed.
