Kristin Silva has stepped down as Seward’s head softball coach after three years in that position. The Saints finished 10-22 in the Jayhawk Conference and 18-32 this spring. The Saints were 5-17 away from home but 11-11 at French Family Field. At SCCC, she finishes 65-88. After Casady Webb accepted a position as head coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State, she joined the team in 2023.
In her second season as the Lady Saints’ head coach in 2024, Silva guided Seward County to their greatest season since the 2018 campaign. After the regular season, Seward County finished in fifth place with a 26-23 overall record and a 19-13 KJCCC record. Before going into the Region VI Tournament as the fifth seed, they had an eight-game winning streak that included sweeps over Garden City, Barton, NW Kansas Tech, and Pratt, which helped them rise as high as third in the standings. In 2023, she had a 21–33 season for the first time.
Seward’s ninth head coach will take over. Casady Webb had a season as a coach. With a 14-18 conference record in 2022, Webb’s Saints finished fifth in the Jayhawk with a 26-27 record. In 1999, Christy Valdez served as coach; in 2000 and 2001, Brian Shearer did the same. In 2002, Craig Martin. Andrea Gustafson, who had a 578-309 record from 2003 to 2017, was the program’s most successful coach. Webb served as coach in 2022, Abby Bolton in 2018, and Ryan Wondrasek in 2019, 2020, and 2021. 2018 was Seward’s most recent Jayhawk victory. Additionally, they took home the KJCCC in 2009, 2010, and 2005. Seward placed seventh in the 2009 NJCAA Tournament and ninth in the 2010 NJCAA Tournament.
Silva played in Region IX from 2016 to 2022 and has been at Lamar Community College for the last seven seasons. In her six seasons with the program, Silva won 143 games. Her finest season was in 2018, when she guided Lamar to a 35-18 overall record and a 24-6 conference record.
Prior to joining Lamar, Silva coached an 18U program in Tacoma, Washington, and served as the assistant coach at the University of Puget Sound from 2012 to 2015. Silva was the assistant softball coach at Fruita Monument High School in Fruita, Colorado, from 2010 to 2012. The team had a 59-11 record during that time. In addition to making appearances in the Elite Eight in 2012, Semi-Finals in 2011, and Quarter-Finals in 2010, the team qualified for the CHSAA State Tournament each year.
Coach Silva was born in Hawaii.
