Oklahoma’s Texas County (KFDA)
Tad Cullum’s application for recusal has been answered by a number of judges, and the State of Oklahoma has gotten a response regarding the order permitting consumptive testing of evidence. There have been updates on Cullum’s request that Judge Jon Parsley step aside from the ongoing murder case of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley in the Oklahoma Panhandle.By dismissing the judge, the Court of Criminal Appeals of the State of Oklahoma rejected the order for extraordinary relief, stating that the defendant had not demonstrated a clear entitlement to the relief he sought.Because Parsley represented Tifany Adams in a civil lawsuit in Cimarron County fifteen years prior, Cullum had asked him to recuse himself on grounds of bias and improper behavior.
On two occasions, Parsley refused to withdraw from the lawsuit.Judge Tom Newby also found no reason to disqualify Parsley when attorneys filed an appeal. After that, Tad Cullum filed a review with the Court of Criminal Appeals, which rejected Parsley’s plea to disqualify himself.Since this appeal is still pending, Cullum was unable to attend the most recent court session; however, the stay has already been removed.
The hearing on the state’s request for an order permitting tests that could cause destruction or damage has finally been set for July 30 at 10 a.m., and all five defendants are scheduled for additional procedures.
