The Liberal Bee Jays defeated the Colorado Roughriders 22–12 on Sunday afternoon, securing the series finale with five home runs from Brent Gould Field. Even though they lost the series 3-1, they managed to blast 10 home runs in the four games.
It was another difficult pitching day, with the wind gusting 30 to 40 miles per hour. Drew Grego’s two RBI single in the first inning gave Liberal a two-run lead. In response, the Roughriders hit a five-run four hit second. Liberal regained the lead at 10-5 with eight points in the second half. Matt Bernath hit a home drive that was three runs long. A sac fly was hit by Drew Garcia. Jack Ryan hit two home runs. A two-run homer was hit by Kyle Sandner. The Riders took five steps. The Riders increased the score to 10–8 with a three in the third. After two in the third, Liberal grabbed a 12–8 advantage. Drew Grego and Landon Bruce both hit solo home runs to start the third inning. The score was 12-10 after the Roughriders scored two in the fourth quarter. In the bottom of the fourth, the B.J.s scored five goals. A run was doubled home by Drew Grego. Drew Barcia hit a single. Todd Baffa hit a home run that was two runs long. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Rider bats cooled and scored a solitary run. In the bottom of the sixth, Liberal added three more. Landon Bruce hit a single. Carson Willis hit a double.
Colorado lost to Liberal 16–14. The Roughriders made three mistakes, while Liberal made four. Drew Grego had three runs, a home run, and six RBIs while batting 4-4. Drew Garcia, Landon Bruce, and JT Cox each had two hits. Drew Garcia and Matt Bernath each had three RBIs.
