Craig Schlott, P.E., was just appointed district six construction and materials engineer by the Kansas Department of Transportation. Mike Pittman, who retired from the agency in June, is replaced by him.
Schlott started out as an Engineering Associate I in the Garden City Construction Office and has been with KDOT for about 25 years. He became an Assistant District Construction and Materials Engineer in 2024 after being promoted to Area Construction Engineer in 2006. He is from Lamar, Colorado, and graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a degree in civil engineering. At the moment, he lives in Garden City.
According to District Engineer Joe Finley, Craig’s background has allowed him to have a thorough understanding of both KDOT and the transportation requirements of southwest Kansas. This is a fantastic next step for his career, and we have no doubt that he will succeed in his new position.
Schlott will be in charge of managing the district materials lab and directing construction operations for southwest Kansas, which includes four construction offices, in his capacity as the district construction and materials engineer.
