At 2:32 pm Saturday Liberal firefighters were dispatched to 901 E 2ndStreet Lot #25 for a fire in the kitchen of the residence.
When the first fire and police officers arrived, they found a manufactured home with an air conditioner fixed on the window that was burning. After the fire was swiftly put out, entrance was made to put out the fire that was still blazing in the front wall and bay window. All occupants of the home had safely evacuated. The fire was reported to have caused no injuries. At 2:47 pm, the fire was deemed totally extinguished. At 4:04 p.m., all fire departments and staff left the area and were put back into service.
The house was rendered unusable due to extensive internal fire and smoke damage. The displaced family received aid from the American Red Cross. The house was affected by the fire that began in the air conditioner.
Liberal Fire responded with two engines, one squad truck, one officer car, and sixteen people. The American Red Cross, Black Hills Energy, Southern Pioneer Electric, Liberal Police Department, Seward County EMS, and Liberal/Seward County Emergency Communications Center were among the other organizations helping with the fire.
