Southwest Medical Center Receives Accreditation

By consistently meeting its performance requirements, Southwest Medical Center has obtained The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital and Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation. A health care organization’s dedication to offering safe and high-quality patient care is reflected in the Gold Seal, a mark of quality.

On April 15, 2025, Southwest Medical Center was the subject of a thorough, surprise onsite survey. During the visit, a group of Joint Commission reviewers assessed adherence to hospital and ambulatory care (clinic) standards in a number of areas, such as leadership, infection prevention, emergency management, environment of care, medication management, and individual rights and responsibilities. The Joint Commission conducted interviews with staff and patients, examined records, and watched care during the survey.

Patients, measurement specialists, and health care professionals are consulted during the development of The Joint Commission’s standards. They assist healthcare organizations in measuring, evaluating, and enhancing performance and are based on expert consensus and scientific research.

According to Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer at The Joint Commission, the organization collaborates with healthcare organizations across care settings as a healthcare accreditor to promote safer, better, more compassionate, and equitable care. The Joint Commission promotes improvement while upholding responsibility through our industry-leading survey techniques and standards, as well as through working together on creative solutions and evidence-based resources and tools. We applaud Southwest Medical Center’s dedication to improving patient safety, quality, equity, and compassion.

By holding staff members to The Joint Commission’s standards and conducting ongoing evaluations of patient care, Southwest Medical Center prepares for the survey, which is conducted every three years.

Southwest Medical Center is dedicated to giving patients safe, high-quality care, according to Amber Williams, CEO of SWMC. That dedication is demonstrated by the maintenance of The Joint Commission’s accreditation.
