During its Monday night meeting, the USD 480 Board of Education established a number of appointments for the forthcoming academic year. The Board designated Lane Frymire as the USD 480 Board Attorney, Hay Rice & Associates as the district’s auditor for 2025–2026, Rusty Tuman as the Clerk and Maria Martinez as the Assistant Clerk of the Board of Education, and Dana Handy as the USD 480 Treasurer and Nila Newton as the Assistant Treasurer.
The Board adopted the following Resolutions in new business:
For 2025–2026, Resolution A establishes the date, time, and location of Board sessions.
Banks are designated as depositories for the school district’s finances under Resolution B.
Resolution C designates the district’s authorized representative to oversee the school meal program.
Resolution D designates the hearing officer for appeals of applications for free or reduced-price meals.
Resolution E designates the district’s designated representative to oversee the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS).
Each attendance center is assigned a truancy officer under Resolution F.
Resolution G specifies 2025–2026 as the academic year.
Resolution H permits the Board Clerk to pay claims against the district in question before the Board approves them, as long as the district offers a discount for earlier payment of claims.
Resolution I identifies the hearing officer for complaints claiming Title IX violations and the school district official in charge of organizing compliance initiatives.
The creation of petty cash funds and the appointment of their administrators are approved by Resolution J.
All policy declarations contained in the minutes before June 2025 are revoked by Resolution K, which also adopts the policy handbook as revised and maintained by the superintendent to govern this school district in the 2025–2026 academic year.
The mileage allowance rate for privately owned vehicles used for official school district purposes is set by Resolution L.
The district’s organizational chart for 2025–2026 is adopted in Resolution M.
Board representatives are appointed to committees and councils by Resolution N.
The district’s official publication is designated by Resolution O.
The Freedom of Information Officer is appointed by Resolution P.
District administrators are designated under Resolution Q.
Resolution R: To exclude GAAP from requirements.
When a student appeals a suspension or expulsion, Resolution S designates a hearing officer.
Resolution T designates a district purchasing agent.
An appeals officer for emergency safety interventions is appointed by Resolution U.
The District’s printer ink bid of $168,874.77, made by Rasix Computer Center, was accepted, as was the Library Software bid.
The Hirefox contracts, as amended by legal advice, were also authorized.
